Tom Mutsaerts obtained his medical degree in 1983 at the State University of Leiden, the Netherlands.
In addition he completed his studies to become a general practitioner and tropical doctor. From 1986 until 1988 he worked as Medical Officer in Charge at Igogwe Hospital in Tanzania.
From 1988 on he has been working as an occupational physician, during the first four years being employed by the Dutch Ministry of Internal Affairs. In 1992 he made a changeover to Royal Dutch Airlines (KLM), a job that offered a combination of occupational health, medical emergency assistance and management.
In 2000 he became a self-employed company doctor in The Hague, counting the Police Force, the Mental Health Authorities and the oil industry among his customers. Since 2003 he has been a member of the Board of the regional division of the Dutch Association of Occupational Physicians (NVAB) and since 2007 also of the regional division of the Royal Dutch Medical Association (KNMG). In 2005 he published the book ‘Gezond Omgaan met Gewoontes’ [‘Deal with your Habits in a Healthy Way’].
Tom Mutsaerts is an occupational physician with ample practical experience and he is co-founder of the WHI foundation.
